Athlete of the Year 2021 to be announced at BASC Annual Dinner

Voting has closed for club members to select their Athlete of the Year for 2021. The winner will be announced at the Annual Dinner on 20 November.

The shortlist includes all four solo medalists from the Tokyo Olympic Games - Josh Kerr (1500m bronze), Holly Bradshaw (pole vault bronze) also won European Indoors bronze and broke the British Record to take the national title), Laura Muir (1500m silver) with Wanda Diamond League wins over 800m and 1500m), and Keely Hodgkinson (800m silver with a British record), who also took the Wanda Diamond League and European Indoor 800m titles, finishing the season as the world number one.

Hannah Cockroft (T34 100m and 800m) added 2 Paralympic gold medals to her previous 5 and broke 4 world records (T34 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m) during the season, also makes the shortlist, along with Nick Miller, who finished 6th in the hammer at Tokyo (the best British throws result at Tokyo and highest placed British male hammer thrower at the Olympics since 1924), and Daryll Neita, part of the bronze medal winning 4 x 100m relay team, who became only the second British woman to go under 11 seconds in the 100m, making the Olympic final and setting a 200m PB in the Wanda Diamond League final.
