This year all the youth and junior awards were presented at the BASC Annual Dinner. Most recipients took part in panels at the Saturday afternoon events which gave BASC members an insight into the views and ambitions of up-and-coming athletes.
17-year-old Catherine Reid took seconds off her personal best this year to win the BASC Young Athlete of the Year Award.
The award is made for performances over the course of a season by a youth athlete (16-17 years old on 31 December in the year of competition). Catherine holds the Isle of Man U20 record for 400m and 200m and is currently ranked joint first in the UK U20 400m rankings. She capped an amazing season by winning bronze medal in the IAAF World Youth Championships in Cali.
