After a thrilling year of athletics competition, including World Indoors Championships - in Glasgow - European Championships and Olympic Games, BASC members are voting for their Athlete of the Year. The winner will be announced at the BASC Annual Dinner later in November.
Our shortlist for the Athlete of the Year includes Olympic and European 800m Champion, Keely Hodgkinson, who has also run the fastest time of the year breaking her own British record, along with World Indoor Champions Molly Caudery (pole vault) and Josh Kerr (3000m). Molly has the world leading vault for the year, broke the British record and is British champion and European bronze medalist, while Josh has broken the British 1500m and mile records, and won Olympic bronze in the 1500m. Matt Hudson-Smith broke the European 400m record three times this year including his Olympic silver medal winning run, and is British 200m champion. Katarina Johnson-Thompson won her first Olympic medal taking silver in the heptathlon. Georgia Bell is the British champion and record-holder in the 1500m, winning bronze at the Paris Olympics and silver at the European Championships. Finally, European silver-medalist Charlie Dobson is the British 400m Champion, and won the Diamond League Final – he is third in the all-time European rankings.
