Amy Hunt topped the BASC members' poll for their Athlete of the Year, following her stunning silver medal in the women's 200m final at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. She was just one of the 2025 BASC award winners announced at the club's Annual Dinner held on 1 November.
Other award winners, chosen by BASC committee members included Aston Moore as coach of the year, and Sabrina Fortune awarded the Susanna Ingram Award for the para-athlete of the year. Aston coaches Katarina Johnson-Thompson (world heptathlon bronze medalist) and Jazmin Sawyers (back in the top flight of long-jumpers after recovering from serious injury) among others.
Youth awards went to Innes Fitzgerald, Otis Poole, Lyla Belshaw and Rafferty Mirfin. Innes was chosen as winner of the Katharine Merry Trophy for the second successive year. She took gold in the European U20 Championship 3000m and 5000m, and was selected to represent GB & NI in the World Championships. Innes also broke the European U20 Indoor 3000m record. Otis, the British Indoor High Jump Champion, won silver in the European U20 Championship. Lyla (1500m) and Rafferty (800m) both won European gold medals, despite being U18 athletes.
