As an action-packed Diamond League event returned to London, with record crowds for a one-day athletics event. There were stacks of personal bests by British athletes, and Zharnel Hughes topped the lot by breaking John Regis' longstanding 200m British record by 0.2secs. But when it came to BASC members votes for the most memorable moment, Zharnel could not be included as he had already won the vote for the British trials. Instead, members voted for Jemma Reekie who wowed the crowd with one of the most exciting finishes of the day in the 800m to close the event.
Here are the other athletes on the shortlist: Sammi Kinghorn (800m wheelchair) also triumphed in very exciting finish. A number of athletes achieved the World Championships qualification times: Max Burgin (800m) came good after running out of steam in the trials a couple of weeks ago returning from injury and Megan Keith (5000m) beat her previous PB by over 30 seconds to creep inside the qualifying time, following her triumph in the European U23 Championships. Dina Asher-Smith is running into form taking 2nd place in the 100m just shy of her British record. Joel Clarke-Khan energised by the crowd equalled his PB to take equal 3rd place in the high jump.
