Storming Zharnel proves most memorable

Once more an intriguing and action-packed UK Athletics Championships produced many memorable moments. BASC members voted Zharnel Hughes's 100m victory in torrential time as their most memorable moment. Zharnel ran 10.03s in atrocious conditions. Club Chairman, John Standerline, presented Zharnel with his award at the London Athletics Meet two weeks later, also congratulating him on breaking John Regis' long-standing 200m British record at that event.

Other performances on the shortlist were: Molly Caudery winning the women's pole vault with a massive PB (4.71m) and a World Championship qualifying height, after being out for so long with injuries. Zharnel Hughes' 200m win in a stunning 19.77s which only a breath of wind (0.3m/s over the allowable limit) preventing him from breaking John Regis' long-standing British record. Another impressive sprint victory went to Daryll Neita breaking the championship and stadium record in the 200m final with a time of 22.25s. And the final nominee is Katie Snowden, surprising many with a victory over hot favourite Laura Muir in the 1500m final (4:09.86).
