The first ever European Athletics Championships to be held in the UK produced a range of emotions: joy at medals won, excitement at competitive races and field events, and mixed emotions when GB&NI athletes just missed out on medals. 

We have shortlisted our individual gold medalists along with an all-time record breaker for members to select their memorable moment of the championship. 

Dina Asher-Smith became the most successful athlete in the 92 year history of the European Championship adding an individual bronze and two relay gold medals to her all-time tally. 

Romell Glave took gold in the 100m in a time of 10.09s into a headwind. He was also part of the men's 4x100m relay team winning gold.

Matthew Hudson-Smith won 400m gold in his home stadium in front of a stand named after him. He blew away the field in a time of 44.17s. He was also part of the silver medal winning relay team in the 4x400m.

Amy Hunt's ambition was to win a historic 4 gold medals in the championships - and she did just that! She won the 100m and 200m finals in times of 11.00s and 22.19s (a European Lead) respectively. She achieved her ambition by adding two more gold medals as part of the women's and the mixed 4x100m winning relay teams.

Georgia Hunter-Bell continued her impressive season form and dominated the 1500m, winning gold convincingly in a time of 4:07.78.
